Quito, November 26, 2008
Dear Parents:
Last year the American School of Quito piloted a recycling
program within the preschool section. This year, the
school will continue recycling materials, such as:
Paper: newspaper, magazines, cardboard, colored paper,
boxes, etc. The paper can be printed or written on,
but it cannot be dirty.
Plastic Containers: soda, water or yogurt bottles,
etc. The containers must be washed before handing them
in, in order to avoid bad odors in the collection centers.
What we would like to achieve is that all of the students
become aware about the positive impact that recycling
has on caring for the environment.
Starting December 1st, the following days have been
assigned so that students can bring recyclable material
to school:
Monday: Preschool
Tuesday: First and Second Grade
Thursday: Third and Fourth Grade
Friday: Fifth and Sixth Grade
We will continue working with the foundation “Hermano
Miguel” which works to provide prostheses to people
with limited resources using the funds that they raise
from selling recyclable material.
Thank you in advance for your collaboration.
Sincerely,
Teresa Marie Barrera
