Experience

The American School of Quito was founded in 1940, and the International Section was created in 1973. The International Section was one of the first schools in Ecuador to offer an International English-immersion education. We teach all subjects in English, with the exception of one Spanish class per day. The International Baccalaureate Program is the foundation of our academic program and curriculum.

Our first and foremost goal is student learning.

85% of our experienced and dynamic teaching staff is first-language English speakers.

Our administrative staff, teachers, counselors and educational psychologists are on the cutting edge of educational trends and teach based on data developed from educational and psychological studies on what works in the classroom:

Collaborative learning, alternative assessment, differentiation in the classroom, teaching critical thinking, problem solving, writing, research, synthesis and communication skills.
