Since 1940, the American School of Quito has served the local and expatriate community by combining the best aspects of Ecuadorian, American, and international education. Our students go on to attend the best universities in North America, Europe, Ecuador, and the region. We pride ourselves on being a community that stays connected well beyond our students´ time at school with an extensive and active alumni community.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Board of Directors

The American School of Quito is a non-profit private school governed by a Board of Directors. The Board is the policy-making body of the School. This group of volunteer parents and teachers are tasked with:

hiring, nurturing, and evaluating the Director General who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school,
developing strategic plans, ensuring their implementation, and monitoring progress,
developing and approving school policies,
ensuring the financial health of the school,
leading and supporting governance as part of leadership training,
providing leadership to support and drive institutional fundraising.

The Board is composed of 22 members, of whom 18 are elected by parents, 4 are elected by teachers with the Director General, Secondary Principal, Primary Principal, International Section Director, and General Manager, serving as an ex-officio (non-voting) members. All members of the Board are eligible to serve 2 terms where each term consists of 4 years.
