Leadership Program

Lead with Passion to Inspire!

The American School of Quito offers a variety of unique avenues that nurture individual passion in leadership and global issues.  Student voice and choice matter at our school and our program promotes a constructive channel for students to bring their visions to life.

Model United Nations (Caminu)

For over a decade, students in grades 8-12 have participated in Model United Nations both locally and internationally. It is an educational simulation in which students learn about  diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations. MUN teaches participants skills like research, public speaking, debating, and writing, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork and leadership.

National Honor Society

This program has been a part of Secondary for over twenty years.  The organization recognizes outstanding high school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  In addition, NHS " goes far beyond a report card. By empowering, championing, and recognizing well-rounded students, NHS provides schools with a values-based framework to elevate a culture of scholarship, service, leadership, and character." Student Council

Student voice and empowerment are two of the core components of the student council/government at the American School of Quito.

This program aims as a platform for students to become positive change agents within the school as well as liaise with school leadership. They also help raise funds for schoolwide activities, including social events, community projects, helping people.

Operation Smile

This program is a club of volunteers from 10th, 11th and 12th grade, we help children born with cleft lip and palate, so that they can be operated on, to give them back their smile and improve their quality of life. We do this in conjunction with the Fundación Operación Sonrisa Ecuador.
